In the heart of a multi-unit Chicago apartment, the seeds of a unique venture were sown, giving birth to a sprout-your-own food business that would soon flourish beyond its humble beginnings. Robert Schwartz, the unlikely founder, initially embarked on this journey as a personal endeavor to embrace sustainable living and provide himself with fresh, nutritious produce. It all began in the kitchen, where Robert experimented with sprouting various seeds and legumes, discovering the joy of cultivating his own vibrant greens. Encouraged by the fast results, Robert realized the potential to share this eco-friendly and health-conscious approach with his community.

Driven by a passion for fostering a connection between people and their food sources, Robert transformed his home-based sprouting operation into a full-fledged business. In 1990 he launched AB Sprouting, a mobile haven of greenery on wheels that traversed Chicago neighborhoods, delivering Sprouting kits and offering workshops on sustainable gardening practices. After Covid health scares and social unrest that will affect supply chains Robert relaunched his dedication to self sufficient fast healthy food.
